There’s a rumour about me having a close call with a dart. It’s true. Most of it, anyway… and only depending on which version you hear. I dabble in films but mostly I keep my parents out of trouble. I grew up in California where my father made a career in film, appearing in a string of movies that turned him into a screen icon. My mother is in the same business, but she chooses the stage to strut her stuff. I’ve traveled far and wide but Eden holds a certain charm I know I won’t find anywhere else.

I was named after Murphy’s Law because my owner thought she was being hounded by it. I pretend to respond to the name but only because I came dangerously close to being named Fred. She pours heaps of love on me and I think it’s because I was option two and she’s trying to make up for it. From what I understand, she was going to treat her personal woes with the healing power of ice cream but then she decided to adopt a pet – a cute puppy to demand all her time and attention. I guess that’s me…

I like to give my characters sugar highs and coffee overdoses. It’s only fair since they’re always nudging me awake in the middle of the night with plot suggestions. I have two wedding ring quilts I stitched together by hand & wish I could make time to work on another one, but there are simply too many books to read. If I could be a fictional character… there are too many to chose from so I’d probably end up developing multiple personalities. When I have half a day to spare, I jump in the car, point it in whatever direction and take a scenic route somewhere, usually along a winding road – steep ones make me scream.

We’re a group of locals who share a passion for the theatre. Once a month, we trek down to Melbourne to see a play but the rest of the time, we settle for making our own entertainment. This year we’re putting together a production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. Charles Granger, the owner of a local deer farm, Willoughby Park, has been roped into… has agreed to play the lead role. We’re even considering doing an outdoor performance as a charity event to raise funds for the local high school drama department. They don’t have one, but they will.

Wilbur is a boar and spends his days hanging over the fireplace at The Gloriana. If the story can be believed, Eddie Faydon’s grandmother came into town one day complaining there was a boar messing up her kitchen garden. According to Eddie, there was a lot of brouhaha over who was going to hunt it down, when and how. Armed with her grandmother’s double barrel shotgun, Eddie took matters into her own hands. Recently, Mitch Faydon has been heard saying he was off to hunt the ghost of Wilbur.

I love vintage clothes, or at least, I do now that I’ve adopted the look. When I opened Joyce’s Cafe I scoured the country looking for the best coffee to serve. In the end, I partnered up with a supplier who helped me come up with my own blend. No one, except Eddie, knows this: I also own Joyce’s Brew – a little coffee outlet in Melbourne offering coffee paraphernalia and a full range of coffee blends to suit all tastes. It’s doing quite well and I’m thinking of expanding. I owe everything to my uncle, who opened his heart to a five year old orphan…

I’m Sophie Wright and this is my sister Helena. We spend most days riding, checking on cattle and looking forward to our Girls’ night outs with Joyce and Eddie. This photo was taken when we were about fifteen… sixteen. If I knew then what I know now… I’d kick up a fuss… (Her Charming Heartbreaker)

I own Girl About Town, otherwise known as GAT, a magazine for the young woman of today. I’m currently tossing around the idea of visiting Eden. I’ve heard so much about it from Lexie Gardner, the creator of Lulu McGee – GAT’s weekly comic strip. While she’ll never admit it, she always looks forward to her visits home. For some reason, she thinks the town couldn’t handle someone like me. A dozen years of living in Australia hasn’t shaken off my Alabama drawl, and according to Lexie, it tends to spike with charm whenever I get a bright idea.

I work at the pub & while I’m usually busy, I’ve had time to perfect my game of darts – rumors about me trying to pin Theo Kendrick to the wall are false. I also hunt boars (just the one time). I’ve known Joyce… forever. We’re always getting in and out of scrapes and watching out for each other’s backs. Our girls’ night out get-togethers usually start at The Gloriana and wrap up for a morning after damage assessment and control at Joyce’s Cafe. I found this photo when I went digging in the back of my wardrobe for one of my two dresses. I think I was about seventeen…
